Commitment

It normally takes at least 4 hours per week to keep a smallish plot tidy and working. Those hours rise through the spring and summer and at harvest and fall back in the winter. As long as the plot is kept neat and tidy and productive it is up to you and the garden owner to decide how often you would like to visit.

Role description

If you are a keen gardener without much space to garden we have the best opportunity for you. We are introducing gardeners to houses with unused gardens. The gardener will produce fruit and veggies for themselves and the owner of the garden with any surplus going to The Community Grocery to help alleviate food poverty in Hexham.

We have lots of gardens available and are looking out got gardeners.

Desired Qualities

Some knowledge of gardening is useful but not essential.

How your time will help our organisation

We have a paid co-ordinator who will be happy to steer you in the right direction. We are aiming to have tools that we can lend out to you to use on your plot.

Practical Considerations

We will need to complete a DBS check but criminal convictions will not a bar to being involved, more that we want to place people in the right garden for them.
