About Tynedale Talking Newspaper

The TTN consists entirely of volunteers. Teams of 4 readers plus a recording engineer meet weekly to produce an audio recording of the week's key Courant articles, in collaboration with the Hexham Courant. Multiple copies are made of the recording, on memory sticks, and these are distributed by Royal Mail freepost to 100+ listeners across Tynedale and beyond (e.g. to people who have moved away). To ensure no person who is blind or has impaired vision is excluded, the TTN holds a reserve bank of free-loan, specially designed memory stick players. Each memory stick contains in addition either a locally produced Talking Magazine or a spoken edition of 'The Northumbrian'.
