To restore and preserve the former Haltwhistle to Alston Branch Railway, recreating a community railway. To provide facilities for restoration, maintenance, operation and display of locomotives and rolling stock. Provide facilities for the public to travel on, observe the line and to take part in its operations.

About South Tynedale Heritage Railway
We are a
heritage railway running steam, diesel and battery electric trains along a five
mile narrow gauge track from Alston to Slaggyford. We operate mainly at
weekends from April until November then Santa Specials in December with a group
of friendly volunteers who are involved in all aspects of railway operations.
