Role description

Fundraising has a huge variety of activities to participate in so joining this team will mean meeting new people and playing an important role.

The location depends on the activity but could be anywhere in West Northumberland. Some examples of past events include bag packs at Hexham supermarkets and the wheelbarrow race in Ponteland.

We are looking for volunteers who are reliable and adaptable to support a variety of activities throughout the year. Having your own transport is helpful but not essential.

You will be supported by our fundraising team, both staff and existing volunteers. We ask each volunteer to attend one of our induction sessions held throughout the year. This includes important information about the Hospice including our history, our values and behaviours and an overview of the services that we provide.

As each event is different we will provide all necessary information and guidance in advance or on the day of events so that you remain safe, informed and aware of what is required.

As an occasional volunteer, you’ll be placed in a group of similar minded people who you can connect and bond with, making friends and engaging with the local community. Due to the type of events that we take part in there are opportunities to boost confidence and self-assurance by following experienced and friendly members of staff or volunteers that can help you to try something new and meet new people.

Participating in occasional volunteering can help develop skills and experience in the charity sector and provide great knowledge for furthering yourself within fundraising. If you are looking towards or thinking about working in fundraising then this is an excellent opportunity to get some first-hand experience.

For more information, or to speak to someone about other volunteering opportunities, please contact Tina Townson, Administration Assistant (HR and Volunteering) on 01434 600 388 or email volunteering@tynedalehospice.com
