Location

The location of the role is at the client’s home, which could be anywhere in the area Tynedale Hospice covers in West Northumberland.

Commitment

The service is very flexible. Some clients may require very few sessions, others may need the service for a longer period. The hours therefore are irregular, but we would ask for a minimum commitment of 5 hours per month.

Role description

Provide massage therapy to people with terminal illness and life liming conditions. You will need to competently provide the therapy required for the client and/or family members/ carers.

 

You will need to be aware of contraindications and cautions in treatment in relation to the therapy you practice.

Desired Qualities

You will need a recognised qualification in Massage Therapy. You will need to be committed, reliable and have a genuine desire to help people. You will need excellent communication skills and a warm, empathic personality. Our volunteers have a caring, compassionate nature and non-judgemental attitude alongside the ability to deal with emotionally charged situations.
